Meet Ruby Rufus
What made you want to start your brand?
My sister (Tallulah) and I recreated and adapted vintage pieces from my mom’s wardrobe that we both coveted as we couldn’t find THE piece we were looking for. We didn’t set out to create a brand, but when people saw us wearing the long silk robes, people freaked and so we started taking orders from friends, strangers and even our favourite stores!
When you were younger what did you want to be?
I think I always knew I wanted to do something in fashion. From as long as I can remember, I was creating outfits for my barbies, to making clothes for myself…
What has been your favourite brand moment to date?
Nothing beats seeing women wearing your brand when you’re out! Also, seeing Steven Tyler wear one of our kimono’s while performing “Dream On” was definitely a pinch-me moment.
Who is the favourite person you have worked with?
Working with Tallulah every day!
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
You always regret the things you don’t do.
Who is your ultimate business inspiration?
Sarah Blakely, I recently took her Masterclass, she’s so inspiring!
What trend do you predict will be the biggest in 2020?
Chic quarantine “home” looks for 2020!

Feminine, Fluid, Sexy
What is the secret to success?
Don’t be scared of taking risks.
What advice would you give to future female generations?
You may find opportunities that you think you can’t do, but the truth is that you really can. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable and try things you’ve never done before, because you never know, it might turn out that you actually like it!

Taking risks
What is something you’re currently working on?
I’m actually in development to relaunch my other brand Ruby Rufus, luxury pet wear for Autumn 2020! I couldn’t be more excited.
What will your brand look like in 10 years time?
I feel like thing are changing so quickly these days – especially in fashion, you have to always been on your toes, adapting, being a few steps ahead… that’s the exciting part – you never know what’s around the corner!
