The Founder of Charlotte Simone

Meet Charlotte Beecham

What made you want to start Charlotte Simone?
I had an idea my Freshman year of college, an idea to make a statement scarf! A scarf that you could invest in just as you do a shoe or a handbag. When it was time for me to graduate I still believe that was a good idea so I just went for it! Charlotte Simone was an idea that slowly and organically grew into a business and now sells much more than a scarf.

When you were younger what did you want to be?
I’ve always loved fashion, books and history of art. I actually studied Art and English Literature at College but always knew I wanted to work in the field of Fashion. Saw myself as a fashion journalist until I took the plunge once graduating!

What has been your favourite personal moment to date?
Probably seeing the very first celebrity in Charlotte Simone, it was Olivia Palermo and she was spotted front row at Fashion Week with a fuzzy Charlotte Simone stole. I could have cried I was so so happy!

What is the favourite aspect of the creativity of what you do?
Probably the days I can actually sit, create, paint and draw (which sadly aren’t as many as I would like.) The start of a new collection is always the best, when ideas are fresh and you aren’t yet confronted with the problems of production. You can just sit and draw what you want!

Who is the favourite person you have worked with?
Hmmm, probably has to be Kyle Devole, a stylist and dear friend. He is always a buzz with creativity and positivity. Its amazing working with people who you not only admire but bring a real sense of positivity into your office/shoot/life!
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
The best advice has probably been to pause when stressed or concerned about work. Nothing goods from knee jerk decisions, so pause and sleep on it. I’m really impulsive and hate leaving work un-answered so I reallllly struggle to do this, but, when I do I'm always grateful I took the time to consider my options.

What trend do you predict will be the biggest in the coming year?
Neutral and elevated basics – alongside sustainable fashion that we can all support!

What are 3 words to describe yourself?
Driven, passionate and lover of all things pink.

What are 3 words to describe your brand?
Statement, Colourful and modern.

What is the secret to success?
Hard work, determination and self belief!

Which 3 people would make up your dream dinner party?
Hmmm has to be Lena Dunham, Dolly Alderton and Nigella Lawson.

What are you grateful for?
I’m grateful for my family, my wonderful husband, my sausage dog Harold, my health, my beautiful little office, my wonderful team and my business surviving the storm that was Covid19.
What is one thing everyone should do?
Walk as much as you can! I walk about 45 minutes to and from my office every day ( unless it down pours ) Having that moment alone to just walk and reflect is so amazing for my mental health, I find it so freeing.

What are you reading right now?
I am reading Dolly Alderton Ghosts!

What is your spirit animal?
Hedgehog

What are you most unapologetic for?
I’m very blunt, to know me is to love me…

What is the best thing about having your own business?
You get to be your own boss, manage your time and your life journey! It’s a blessing and sometimes a curse but overall I am so proud of where I’ve come these past 5 years of hard work and love poured into my business. During the pandemic there were a lot of tears and tantrums as to how I would survive but I’m so proud that we found a way to fight the storm and I believe we are stronger for it. So please stay tuned for what’s coming this winter! 01.10.20

What is something you’re currently working on?
I don’t want to give too much away but stay tuned for 01.10.20 where we will be releasing a new and limited edition collection.
